Announcing This Week’s Theme: Winter Fashion
1 Comment Published by Joel December 4th, 2006 in Clothes. Share ThisFirst, a disclaimer: I’ve got a crazy schedule this week. Fünde Razor is going down this Wednesday—and if you’re in New York, please come by; it’s going to be a Class A hoot—and I’ve got a bunch of other stuff going down, including an in-town boss, that’s going to make my schedule a mess.
Now that won’t mean I won’t be updating as much as usual. In fact, you might not notice any difference at all. The thing is, I’ve been struck with the need to step things up when it comes to the theme weeks. We’ve done a cursory pass over most of the topic areas we’ll be covering on Dethroner, so the next step will be to dig in deeper, bringing in experts who know more than I do and doing more traditional reporting. So while this week’s theme, “winter fashion,” won’t be worse than our usual mediocre content, it won’t be as good as I hope future themes will be. Next week’s theme, the first that brings in a guest-blogging expert, is going to be stunning. If you’re interested in guest blogging for a week to share your hard-won knowledge for a theme week, just shoot me an email.)
I haven’t yet bought many winter clothes, so I’m hoping to isolate the new pieces I want to add to my wardrobe; hopefully you’ll all have plenty of ideas and suggestions for good looks this season that you’d like to share. Specifically, I think it’s time that I bring some new suits into my life to offset my new “chubby punk” look. (I sort of cut myself a ragged mohawk in a fit of pique, which I find to pleasantly match my new $25 glasses from Goggle4U.)
So that’s our plan this week: Coats, suits, scarves, the dissolution of youthful anti-style in the face of faceless corporate necessity, hats, striped, punk-influenced fashion (so over yet so easy!), and the best ways to keep looking smart while trudging through snow drifts and slush. As Dan Rather would say in a drunken burp, “Courage!”
What can a guy wear to seem festive but not stupid for office parties and parties at people’s B’burg lofts decorated with the West Elm holiday collection?
