hahahaha ok then you are an inconsiderate bastard, not because you own sucha tahoe, but because you park you jumbo SUV in not only a compact only spot (ticketable in some if not most states), but aslo a handicap spot.

Although relcutant to do so my best friend's Mom suggested I admit my error. That is my vehicle that has caused so much discussion. Well, not actually "my" vehicle but my parent's who live in the assisted living facility shown in the picture. They can't drive anymore but their trustee (attorney) said they could buy the vehicle in the name of the trust and I could use it. I was visiting them.

Everything in the picture is real. The parking slot looks small because it is marked for compact cars only. They are narrow. The handicap slot was not in use when I arrived and when I left. When I came out the only handicapped license plates I saw were parked at least three lanes away from this one.

I have moved it.

1. Do not be jealous of someone for owning a more expensive vehicle than yourself. Just because this guy is having a midlife crisis and clearly compensating with a redesigned Tahoe, does not make him a douchebag, or an asshat...it makes him stupid with his money.
2. Simple thing...handicap parking spots are 3 feet wider than normal spots...copy the image into your paint application (or better yet thegimp) and do a pixel count across a straight line. The handicap "spot" is narrower than the spot Mr. Hummer is in. Also the TRIANGLE is blue not black; however the triangle handicap sign is meant for restrooms. like someone said there is no sign on a post (required) as well the white lines to the right run PARALLEL to the curb, if that was a handicap loading zone(i.e. space for a wheelchair drop down) they would run at 45degrees to the spot and the curb. another thing is that, again its been said, the dip-down for the walk extends into the spot (not allowed).
3. Get over yourself, unless you drive a hybrid, all electric, or dont use cars at all, shut up. Do you grow and produec all your own food? there are far worse things you can do to the environment than drive a fuel hog, all fuel hogs do is create more demand for fuel driving the price up...oh goodness, is that what has you all so mad?
teh fuel to power ratio of these peices of junk may be absolute garbage, however they do burn it reletaveli clean copmpared tou your family car...
4. also i have to agree with maz. I cannot count the number of times i have had to park like an ass because of the person beside me, then i come out of the store and hes gone making me look like the idiot.
Mr dumbfounded...guess what not only can you copmare the hummer side by side with vehicles of the same class...you can compare it to ANY vehicle Here it is compared sbs with a Tahoe of the same year (by the way they are the same vehicle with different bodies)

How are fuel cost estimates and miles on a tank determined?
Fuel cost estimates are based on45% highway driving, 55% city driving, 15000 annual miles and the following fuel prices:

    Regular Gasoline: $2.24 per gallon

You may customize these values to reflect the price of fuel in your area and your own driving patterns.

Fill-up cost and the distance you can travel on a tank are calculated based on the combined MPG and the assumption that you will re-fuel when your tank is 10% full.

What's the difference between air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions?
Air pollution refers to vehicle emissions that are harmful to human health and/or cause smog. Greenhouse gases refer to emissions that cause global climate change.

Why do some vehicles have more than one air pollution score?
Some vehicles are available in multiple emission versions that look the same but have different air pollution scores. Unfortunately, it is difficult to distinguish between similar models.

If you click on the link "Show Detailed Air Pollution Information" above, it will display the emission standard and the 12-digit underhood engine ID. You can identify the cleaner car by matching the engine ID listed above to the Underhood Label Identification Number on the vehicle.

Note: In some cases, manufacturers choose to certify identical vehicles to different emission standards. In these cases, the vehicles will have the same engine ID.

Greenhouse gas emissions expressed in CO2 equivalents. The greenhouse gas estimates presented here are "full fuel-cycle estimates" and include the three major greenhouse gases emitted by motor vehicles: carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane. Full fuel-cycle estimates consider all steps in the use of a fuel, from production and refining to distribution and final use. Vehicle manufacture is excluded. (U.S. Department of Energy, GREET Model, Argonne National Laboratory)

well it dod not c&p very well, but go to your site you listed and compare the hummer the the same year tahoe...you will be surprised.
5. if this guy had parked in two spots that had normal markings on them this pic would never have been taken. Which makes me believe it is not likley photoshoped, merely purposely put out of context of the sinage. there is probably a handicap accessible bathroom nearby.

I read this earlier today, and when my wife and I went out, I made a point of checking out how the handicapped spaces I saw around town were marked on the street. At least here in Boston, they are predominantly done in white, not blue as Alex claimed above (exception was the parking lot of a medical center). Also, there were several where a coating of darker paint (or maybe really thin asphalt/tar) surrounded the symbol - apparently for the purpose that ceedee claimed - increased legibility, because the same paint/tar was evident elsewhere in the same lots where lines had been shifted or redrawn.

I didn't find an exact duplicate to the situation in the picture, but I did see one place where there was a handicapped spot on one side of a curb cut, and a narrower zebra-striped area on the other side (about the same width as the one in the picture). It looks like it was intended as a de/embarkation zone for folks with side-loading platforms on their h-cap vans.

Also, I doubt the picture *had* to be faked - as on most other days, today my wife and I spotted several cars (mostly SUVs actually) parked in or across h-cap spaces without a requisite plate or windshield tag.

I think it lame for people to 'hate' a vehicle by an asumption... This person IS a douchebag mainly because he can't park in one spot and thinks that he/she deserves to put that tank in the front row. These trucks are not wider than most large SUVs. Compare (oh wait you can't) this Hummer to other vehicles of the same class @ www.fueleconomy.gov

Total fake pic, there is no sign. Also I have only seen these sites painted in Blue, not white. Also, why would they have the spot blocking the ramp, seems weird to me.

Either way, Hummers are lame!

just to point out, i believe that black traingle is what is known as sealcoat, it's a layer of hot tar that goes over the asphalt. my uncle owns a company that sealcoats parking lots. and instead of keying their car, why not just call a police officer. parking in a handicapped zone is a 100 dollar fine and anyone who keys a car is himself a inconsiderate bastard

I key douche bag parkers! Have been known to key all four sides! No excuse to park into a handicap zone. No I don't key if it's just a normal spot... just the buttnuggets that park in the handicap spots that aren't handicapped.

Just slap one of these bumperstickers on their car. I keep a handy stash in my glovebox for just these kind of situations.

That's black paint under the handicapped stencil and NOT a photoshop effort. I used to paint that stuff. We'd first paint the background black to cover the old handicapped stencil, then paint a new stencil over it. We did this to make the new stencil look clean and VISIBLE.

I have to go with the photoshop theory. No paving company is going to spread asphalt AROUND the paint. They pave it over, then whip out the stencils and spray paint. The space itself is way too small to be a handicapped space. Why is there no sign in front of the space marking it as handicapped-only? The law on handicapped spaces says that the space MUST be clearly marked with a sign. If there's no sign, you can't be ticketed.

Jimbo, doing damage to someone else's vehicle is a pretty shitty thing to do. There are occasions where I have to park slightly to the side of a space as it's the last in a lot and the moron next to me parked that way. Say you come along and the asshat that did that is gone you're gonna assume it was me that did it and screw up my car.

Granted it's not a good one and I don't really give a damn. Just doing things like that is asking for it to happen to your vehicle later in time.
