After the jump, a series of images showing enterprising second/third-worlders delivering out-sized and dangerous things preciously positioned on the backs of tiny scooters. This was sent to me in one large image, but looks very much like the sort of thing that was compiled elsewhere. Please send me the link if you know where credit is due.

What’s the deal with those white mesh sandals? I count eight appearances. I can see the headlines now,”Random white sandals the next Croc killer? Google purchase rumors abound!”
i’m going to assume/hope that those pigs are dead.
I doubt very much about the pigs. I´m pretty much sure they´re alive, unfortunately. The chickens and ducks also… :-(

Um, re the pigs and the comment that they are alive. I just can’t imagine trying to shove that many pigs into a cage that small ….. Now really …
the top one- is it ice? must be ’shopped- appears to be a shortage of shadow of the blocks on the ground?
the other ones are just plain scary. but needs must eh?
There is no way the pigs, chickens, or ducks are still alive. Look at the faces of the animals. None of them are living. Besides, have you ever tried to hold onto a chicken? They freak out if you grab their legs. They wouldn’t just sit there calmly with their legs tied to a scooter.
But man, am I glad that we have pick up trucks here. Having to use a teeny scooter as your main mode of transportation would really suck if you also had to carry around a ton of cargo, too.
@ffolliet: are you serious? this isn’t an apple fan-boy site and not it’s not photoshopped. The shadows are cast on the dude’s leg. and HIS shadow is directly to his left.
I assure you all! Those pigs are well and truely alive! As will be most of the chickens and ducks.
The best one I ever saw whils in SE Asia, was the MASSIVE hogtied mommy pig on the back of a Honda Dream.

i just felt that the shadows seen on the right side of the bike are
his foot
the bag at the front
the exhaust at the back
and as for the two HUGE protrusions lateral to that…nothing
admittedly there IS shadow on his leg but that is probably the front windspreader in the original.
but let’s not have handbags over this eh?
Ah, AdamOndi, if only…. Unfortunately, this is quite a common mode of live transport in the Far East. Yes, chickens do freak when they are first grabbed, but once their legs are tied they gradually become kind of frozen in shock. As for the pigs, again this is commonplace. Look at the way their legs are bent – not possible with a dead animal because of rigor mortis. Incidentally, I don’t know all this cos I am some kind of animal torturer – I work in animal welfare! :-)
those are blocks of ice and shadows are visable look behind and up behind the scooter, see the corners?
Blocks like those are also used in Iraq, I wouldn’t doubt if they were very common throughout Asia. In many ways they are superior considering the climate and applications of them.
