Magic 25 Cigarette Filters

magic25.jpgThe Magic 25 mini cigarette filters are strange devices, purporting to “reduce tar and nicotine up to 76%.” Each reusable filter attaches to the end of your cigarette, presumably serving a similar purpose to standard filters on cigarettes, which would lead me to believe that a smoker would be better off just buying more heavily-filtered cigarettes. (Although even the cigarette manufacturers won’t claim that “light” or “ultra-light” cigarettes are any less deadly than their “full flavor” counterparts.)

But hey! The Magic 25 filters are made in Japan, so they have to do something, right? If nothing else, their clear cases will let you see exactly how much tar you could be otherwise inhaling.

Packs of 30 are available for $6 plus shipping.

Actually, many cigarette manufacturers DO still claim this. Which is why many State Attorneys General are going after them.

I used these for joints when I had a lung infection. Yeah, dumb but they work!

If you’re going to cut out ~75% of the nicotine from each cigarette, you’re going to either smoke more cigarettes to keep your blood nicotine level up, or you’re going to live in a state of permanent semi-withdrawal. Why bother? Either accept the obvious risks and smoke, or quit, but don’t delude yourself into feeling better about the risks by pretending to minimize them. That’s just silly.

My friends actually use these ( a couple of them anyhow). The used ones can get pretty filled up with black crap. If that means they work or not is beyond me, I dont smoke. They pick them up at liquor stores here in NorCal.

As far as the nicotine reduction, doubt it. Friends that use them didnt smoke anymore or less while using them, but it may cut out the tar.

actually, lights are just regular cigs with holes in the filters - so some smoke escapes before it hits mouth. They’re not better filtered, and with your fingers around enough of them, and since they get sucked harder - they’re not really any different.

Lance, you may have just saved my lungs.
I had NO IDEA that lights were just punctured cigs.
    Goddamit.
    Why I oughta…..sue.
