Hats that make sly references to a much beloved but nuked-from-orbit sci-fi television series? The perfect winter wear. This “Jayne Hat,” modeled after the one given to Adam Baldwin’s character on Firefly by his mother is not for sale, but instructions have been made available. Of course, if you’re really going to wear this ironic monstrosity, it would be most fitting if it were actually made by your mother.
My Jayne Hat Pattern [Red Shirt Knitting]
“Now Jayne, remember, you only gotta scare him.”
“Pain is scary.”
Other speculative fiction knitting patterns: Tom Baker’s Dr Who scarf, Hogwarts scarves.
I have to be frank: I think hand knit scarves — particularly from the SO — are a good look. Am I alone in this?
I’ve come to the conclusion that Jayne Cobb is my favorite fictional character of all time.
Jayne Cobb, Animal Mother…whatever floats your boat.
“That hat makes you look like an idiot!”
I like hand-knit scarves quite a lot, Andrew. Hand-knit anything, really. Just not this hat.
1) Like all the characters, he realy had just found his when the series was dropped.
2) Only a character like Jayne could pull off wearing the hat. Except maybe Worf. But that it was from his mother made it all the better and understanding.
